The story behind Meridian is a straightforward one: the right tool didn't exist, so it was built from scratch by someone who needed it.
Meridian was born from a specific frustration. As a school leader, the tools available for tracking student progress and attainment were either too generic to be genuinely useful, or so complex they required a dedicated data manager to operate.
The data existed. The insight didn't. Leadership meetings were full of spreadsheets that answered the wrong questions. Parent reports took days to produce. The gap between what teachers knew and what leaders could see was wider than it needed to be.
Rather than adapt to what was available, the decision was made to build something from the ground up — starting not with technology, but with twenty-five years of accumulated professional knowledge about what school leaders actually need to know, and when.
The expertise came first. The question was not ‘what can we build?’ — but ‘what do we actually need?’ And then the technology was built to answer it precisely.
